After an e-mail attachment download finishes a window should open to ask whether you wish to open the file or save it. There is also an option to always save this type of file. This window no longer comes up and everything I download automatically gets saved on my desktop. Some I would like to just read and then close and it's gone. Where did that option window go to and can I get it back. Also nothing ever shows up in my download file. It's always empty. This is not the computer it happens on.

See if you can find that MIME type in Tools > Options > Applications

  • Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
  • Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "Tools > Options" if the menu bar is hidden.
