I can't log in to my Google Family Link child account with Thunderbird

Perhaps because the login page is an old type, unlike when logging in to websites and apps with Google, there is no screen asking for parental approval. On the other hand, it was possible to log in even if two-factor authentication was attached to non-managed accounts (parental accounts, etc.). Can't the login page be a new type (current) like Windows Mail?

This question has come up before, and at the time I found that child accounts are not allowed to be set up in mail clients. Access has to be either via the gmail mobile app or the gmail website.

I ran into the same problem on a new laptop, but I have my son's gmail account working perfectly in Thunderbird on the old laptop (version 102.13.0 on linux), so there is no general blockage. I get never asked to login on the old laptop, even after re-start, and yet all the emails get synchronized. The new one has version 115.0.1(64-bit).

OK, found the solution here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1374493 Go to TB settings, search for config, click on "condig editor", then search for general.useragent.compatMode.firefox and set it to True. After this, when you log into your child's account, you get to option to authorise the login as a parent.
