Thunderbird "local folders" and all contacts in "address book" are missing.

After a Microsoft update, I lost all of my files and folders in Thunderbird. I've been able to get most everything back now except what I had saved in "local folders" and my entire address book with contacts. Can anyone please explain in VERY SIMPLE STEP BY STEP directions how I find these and get them back? TIA!
