I have upgraded to 70.0 and now there is a 6 second delay on loading first site. I have firefox starting in private mode and without a home page. this loads at its usual speed. However, when I click on a bookmark the system hangs for 6 seconds before the site is presented. Subsequent sites load rapidly as usual. I have tested with other browsers and sites and the problem is specific to Firefox and not specific to the site being load. Once loaded, if I open an additional Firefox window this loads sites rapidly. I have been using Firefox for many years and the problem has only occurred since I upgraded to 70.0.

Can anyone help please.

Hurrahh! I have just upgraded to V71.0 and the problem is fixed. Sites are now loaded instantly - there is no long-duration delay while F/F goes through its start-up process. Well done the developers.

Yes i have been using Firefox for years..., for the 1st time I get this problem after upgraded version 70.0. I hope they are able to get the root of this

I had the same problem. What i did was delet the web browser entirely. Did a new profile and that took care of the problem for me. Make sure you back up your bookmarks. Now Firefox runs very smoothly for me. No delays.

Just been updated to v70.0.1 but I'm still having to wait 25 seconds before the first page loads, any further suggestions please?

Same problem still with me. I thought (in the early hours!) that it might be choking on loading bookmarks so I restored a backup from September. Sadly it didn't change anything, hop that helps. V70.0.1 is still the latest.

Yes, the problem still persists. I believe (but with little evidence) that it is the early-stage communications with Mozilla during start-up that is the problem but unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough to diagnose the F/F comms log. I have noticed that the problem is also occurring on my laptop as well - that is running W7 Pro. Sadly, I am going to have to upgrade from W7 to W10 when I get a quiet spell at the end of this month so will report back after that.

Reason is multiprocess. When you open new tab firefox has to create new process which is somewhat correlated to your PC performance (however it hangs up even on 4800MHz i5 with nvme pci-e 3.0 x4 ssd so....). When this process is already created and you enter different website it is smooth - firefox does not have to create another process until you open NEW TAB or it reaches its limit (from 1 to 8 processess/tabs) - set via settings.
