Do Firefox add-ons have internet access by default?
I have read through the list of Firefox add-on permissions but did not notice any which would permit the add-on to gain internet access. Does that mean that Firefox add-ons can use the internet by default?

Extensions may be able to retrieve information from and send information to the same or other websites. However, the extension usually* needs matching "host" permissions. (MDN) The broadest is described as "Access your data for all websites" so you want to be especially cautious about that one.
* The exception is for the current site, if the user initiates an action.
