Apologies in advanced if I have the wrong terminology but I am having an issue with Firefox 56.0.1 where certain part of pages do not render/display correctly - either the frame does not scroll or it loads in a tiny window that is not usable.

I've added a couple of screenshots below of gridrival.com where the contracts frame loads in a really small window that is not usable . - screenshot https://imgur.com/a/mhCjr Another example is experienced on Linkedin where I am not able to scroll any message windows - screenshot https://imgur.com/a/Lqr0J

I have tried loading Firefox in safemode and also tune-up/refresh but no luck. I have also tried a complete uninstall/install with a new profile yet it still displays incorrectly. I'm also unable to posts to reddit as the submit button does not navigate any further.

I'm not experiencing any of these issues whilst using Chrome on the same machine. someone suggested it was related to "hardware acceleration" being enabled/disabled but this is set to use recommended settings. Has anyone experienced this issue previously and figured out a fix?

Thanks

When an iframe doesn't specify window dimensions or incorrectly uses percentages than the iframe gets a rather small default width and height.

You can possibly use the Inspector to check the page code. You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

Hi cor-el,

Thanks for the feedback. I've not run into any other sites that are rendering incorrectly so afraid I cannot provide any public pages that are behaving odd. Oddly enough, both Reddit and LinkedIn are now working as expected! Not sure what the issue behind that was.

I will do an inspect on gridrival to confirm if the dimensions are not passed in. If that is the case, I'll mark this as resolved :)

Cheers

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

Here is a public page with rendering issues.

The page main content, appears but quickly disappears and keeps blank. Still renders the header and footer. This problem on same machine doesn't happen on Microsoft Edge neither on Google Chrome.
