After "refreshing" Firefox, I am unable to log on to my G-mail account.

I use Firefox because of the need for Silverlight. Firefox began to freeze and dropped the audio from websites. I did a "Refresh" which I know clears cookies, but now am unable to log on to my g-mail account. I get the message "The owner of search.yahoo.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate."

Any help please?!

If you can't inspect the certificate via Advanced (I Understand the Risks) then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.

I agree with cor-el that it's important to confirm why Firefox no longer trusts website certificates by seeing who the issuer is. Although needing to be set up to work with your security software is the most common reason, this also can be caused by malware infections.

The following thread also addresses this "post-Refresh" issue: working great till refresh.Now loads some pages at basic form(left vertical side of the screen and no images).
