Since I have used firefox for years I have to switch to Google chrome because firefox will not play videos. all other browsers work with the exception of firefox. This has happened on my desktop and my laptop along with my wife and sons computers. Even if we go to another hotspot it is still the same. We have tried to update flash layer ad even remove it and start over to no avail.

All other browsers work fine with the exception of firefox.

Hi Doug, do you want to give a couple examples of pages where videos do not play? Also, could you describe what you see, for example, blank box, error message, loading icons just keeps loading...

Is it a new system with Windows 10, or did you update Windows 7, 8, or 81. to Windows 10?

If you are in a country where Microsoft is not allowed to bundle Windows Media technologies into Windows, you may need this to decode MP4 videos: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231

If you haven't already, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?
