Hi, for some reason Firefox doesn't remember my passwords or won't display saved passwords. I've been through all the standard suggestions, checked all the settings and still no joy. Should I un- and re-install? It does keep asking for my master password (at every opportunity) but entering this makes no difference - it keeps asking and then, when I cancel, lets me proceed anyway!

Not sure what's going on...

Thanks

This problem is caused due to corrupted cookies and cache . Try to clear it first. Clearing the cookies and cache can resolve your problem.

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
2.Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
3.Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
4.From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
5.Now click the Clear now button.

This can possibly be caused by a broken "Show my Password" extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
