How are you deleting your bookmarks?

If all bookmark backups are gone [along with the places.sqlite file], Firefox will look to the default bookmarks.html file [upon startup] in the Profile folder which contains the few default bookmarks that come with Firefox.

All bookmark backups were deleted, but I was still getting my old corrupted list back again. Ended up deleting Firefox and re-installing from scratch

Next time, create a new profile. It should be blank.

Also, create backups for such things. I keep 40 backups, and I was glad.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
