How do I move already-downloaded emails from an expired IMAP account to a local folder?

I have an expired IMAP account with emails in it I can still access with Tbird as they have been downloaded I guess (I can no longer connect to the account server). I want to move these to the local folder so Tbird does not keep asking me for the account password every time I boot it up to access other email accounts. I tried to move and copy the emails to a new local folder I created and neither worked. How do I do this? The emails have to be on my local drive somewhere or I could not open and read them at this point. TIA.

Set Thunderbird to offline: File|Offline|Work offline

Then you should be able to copy your messages from the IMAP account's folders to the Local Folders account.

Many thanks Zenos - worked like a charm! Now I will have to research backing them up to a second drive as I no longer have the assurance of an online backup.
