Hello. When I attempt to add a toolbar menu item it doesn't work. I am able to open the menu window but when I click on my choice to drag it to the toolbar nothing happens.

I have searched this support forum and have found some with a similar problem and have performed all the tasks posted to fix this.

Specifically I have tried the renaming and deleting of the localstore.rdf file, and restarting Firefox with all extensions and add-ons disabled.

My pc uses Windows 7 Pro - 64bit.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can also try to reset Firefox:

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to add an item to the toolbar yesterday. I tried to add another one today but no luck.

In between those times I have not changed FF in any way other than bookmarking some new favorites.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

You may need to delete localstore.rdf more often if you have security software that is too protective.
