As a long-time Emacs user, I need a way to configure keyboard actions on Ubuntu short of rebuilding the application. Control-W is a particular problem, as I type it inadvertently and the tab is closed.

Is anyone working on preferences to support this, or just a pulling the mapping from a data file?
