Cant connect to sky email account
Recently had to install a new ssd hard drive but Thunderbird does not want to play ball. Have deleted and reinstalled but only get to Set up an existing email account where i get the message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configartion, user name or password". I do use McAfee but have done for years without any problems. Have rechecked the info I am putting in (many times) and it is correct. Any advice please as hate Yahoo email with a vengence!

Is Thunderbird actually able to access the internet?
I presume it does as get the message "Configuaration found in Mozilla ISP database" when going through the set up process
Are you using the sky.com servers or the Yahoo servers?

While you're at it, disable any option in McAfee to scan the TB profile folder or secure connections.

Not necessarily. The Mozilla ISP database is inbuilt. Try searching for an add-on like ImportExportTools NG. This is just to confirm that Tbird has uninterrupted internet access.
Followed the advice from sfhowes and got emails delivered from Yahoo ( from that company) only, still no joy getting email from sky/yahoo.
What settings did you use for the Sky account? Help/Troubleshooting, copy the Mail and News Accounts section and paste it in a reply here. Or, 'Copy text to clipboard' and omit everything after Mail and News Accounts.
This is the only page I get, no help/troubleshooting option
Press Alt to show the Menu Bar with the Help menu.

Thanks for that
The settings look right, so I suggest you delete everything in Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, and enter the account password in the OAuth browser window when prompted. Check that cookies are allowed in TB Tools/Options/Privacy, and that the full email address is the User Name in Server Settings.
