Hi I'm using Thunderbird on Manjaro. Firefox is set as my default web browser. When I click a link in an email, Thunderbird switches to Firefox but uses the most recent open tab to load the webpage, so I lose whatever site I was already on. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but I get job and house alert emails and it's a faff to have to keep going back and forth between Firefox and Thunderbird - I want Thunderbird to open a new tab in Firefox for each link I click in an email; is this possible? Thanks!

Chosen solution

Yes, that's the one. Right-click it, Reset, to have it take its default value (3), and links should then open in a new tab.

Under Firefox Options, General, Tabs, what do you have for the setting 'Open links that open in a new window in:'? If it's 'Current tab', change it to 'New tab'.

Hey The only relevant option there is "Open new windows in a new tab instead", and that's ticked

Sorry, I didn't realize the option I described is present when the Tab Mix Plus add-on is installed.

If you open about:config in Firefox and look at preferences beginning with browser.link.open, do they all have default values, i.e. none of them are bold type?

browser.link.open_newwindow is modified... value is 1 I assume that might be the issue?

That fixed it - thanks so much!
