V.45.0 (for Mac 10.9.5) will not send if Profile Password 0.7.17 is enabled

more options

I updated to Thunderbird version 45.0. I did not change any preferences or settings. I use Mac OS 10.9.5.

As soon as I updated, I could continue receiving emails, but could not reply to them, or send a new email. When I tried to reply or send, nothing happened. If I tried to save the message I'd just written, nothing happened. When I then clicked on the red button to quit the Write window, I got a Thunderbird pop-up message saying: "SENDING MESSAGE: Thunderbird is currently in the process of sending a message. Would you like to wait until the message has been sent, or quit now?" If I clicked "wait" nothing happened. It never sent.

I went through my add-ons, disabling them one at a time and trying to send a test email. I finally isolated the problem: It's the add-on called Profile Password 0.7.17. As soon as I disabled it, Thunderbird v.45 works fine.

I hope this helps other users who are having the same problem.

My question now is: Does Thunderbird v.45.0 have it's own login password window, for opening Thunderbird? If so, how do I activate it? If not, could this simple feature be added soon, in an update?

Without a password to login to Thunderbird, anyone can start Thunderbird on my computer and immediately see my inbox, and who I'm corresponding with, etc.

Thank you, Thunderbird developers!

Create a separate OS user account for each person using the computer.

Good idea, Christ1, for a shared computer, but I'm more concerned about casual snoopers and crossing borders, where security agents often ask you to start your computer, and even take it away for a few minutes to inspect it. A simple login password (like Profile Password used to provide) is really all that Thunderbird needs.
