I would like to save my GMail's and Hotmail's e-mails seen through Thunderbird in individual files, to look into them off-line later. But also for archive reasons.

There is an add-on to TB which allows import and export of emails in various formats to a separate storage medium (external disk, thumb drive, etc.).
