How can I stop multiple switching to address bar when navigating to pages?

Recently, whenever I go to a new page, Firefox will place my cursor focus in the address bar - if I try to click away it puts the focus right back into the address bar. If I wait for the page to load completely, I can click away without the focus returning. I have an add-on that places the focus in the address bar when I open a new tab, but it's never done it whenever a page loads. It's driving me crazy, because normally when I go to a page I scroll using the arrow keys... which I can't do when my cursor is in the address box. I just updated to Firefox 34.0, which didn't fix the problem. I can't find an option to change this in the preferences window, and I can't identify anything that changed to make it do this...

Interesting. Ok, I'd like to try to help you. But I think this will take some days to deal with it. Will you still be there ?

First of all, try to desactivate your addon (and restart Firefox if needed), and tell if it is still happening, or if you can use again your arrow keys to scroll.

A possible culprit is the Custom New Tab extension.

Both of you were right, it was definitely the add-on. I had tried deactivation before, but I didn't restart firefox; after I did both that fixed the problem. Thanks for your help!
