self-explanatory. Simply browse there and you'll see the problem. The picture clearly should not be on top of the surrounding text, and is not in other browsers.

That page looks okay to me in Firefox 33.0.3 on Windows 7 (screen shot attached). I haven't installed 33.1 yet.

Have you tried "the usual"?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

no difference. See attached.

Looks like you have made changes to the default font settings in Options > Content. Your troubleshooting information shows:

  • font.size.variable.x-western: 12

I get this appearance when the setting for proportional is less than 16 (14 or less).

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced

So you will have to increase that value.

Setting a higher Minimum font size makes it even look worse and makes the page a lot wider. So it looks that the layout of the page is very susceptible to font size settings.

So changing fonts provides a workaround. Obviously not a great one since it is a global change to work around a single website, but it should provides clues to the developers as to the nature of this bug. Hopefully it will be relatively easy to fix.

Hi Stan, what exactly did you change to fix the page layout? Or did you decide to live with the Ikea problem because you like that font size for other pages?

more options

As noted by whoever "cor-el" is, a workaround is to fiddle with the default font until one is found that renders the page in a readable fashion. In this case for me a 15pt font appears acceptable.

Which says, yes- I'll live with the Firefox bug that causes this since 15pt font is way too big for me most of the time.

When I look at that page, I do not see the part about using cookies. Everything else is normal.

The site sets the margin as em values, so a possibility would be to override some margins with fixed values via site specific rules in userContent.css or Stylish or maybe only set a minimum font size for that website.

This works for me:

@-moz-document domain(ikea.com){
html,body {font-size:9px!important}
}

9 px font is almost unreadable on a really high-resolution monitor - too small.
