Before a recent update, I had my xnew tab page" set up the way I wanted it, so it only showed a few pinned bookmarks and nothing else. After the update, my new tab page is now showing items from my history after my pinned bookmarks.

I have the "recently visited" toggle turned off in "customize homepage", but they're still there.

So, how do I get rid of this clutter?

Hi

Are these sites alongside the top sites at the top of the home page, or are they listed under "Recently visited"?

If listed under Recently visited, you can turn this off by opening the Firefox for Android menu, select Customise homepage and turn off Recently visited.

I hope that this helps.

I've attached an edited screenshot. The ones in the bottom row are the ones I don't need to see. I just want to see the four pinned bookmarks on the top row.

I have this same problem and so do a number of others who have posted here. Yet replies keep telling how to "customize homepage to not show recently visited sites" despite the fact that we are all saying we HAVE that toggled OFF, yet it is still showing these sites on the homepage instead of just our chosen pinned sites. Again, clearly related to the latest update.

Hi,

I have looked into this and have been advised that it is a new feature that we have included in Firefox 100 that brings the same experience that users see in Firefox on the desktop.

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers. If you want to leave feedback for developers, you can go to this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

Thanks for the reply clarifying that this is just a really stupid move on the part of the developers. This just makes no sense since there is always a way to show your recently visited sites on your homepage by just toggling that on. Why force those of us who don't want that "feature" to have it? Hopefully by you doing this helpful research with the developers maybe they will realize that for you to reach out meant that there were a number of complaints about this. While I appreciate the link to send in feedback and I, and hopefully others, will do so, this particular "feature" just has me stumped as to its logic.

I've added a new bug report to the issues. Hopefully they can at least give us an option to turn it off. https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/25254

I understand that they're probably not going to do anything with this, but it is actually one reason I use Firefox instead of chrome on my Android phone.
