I have Firefox set to restore my previous session, but it will only restore 3 windows. Not always a problem, but sometimes one of those three windows is a popup I could care less about (like from pinterest, or a log off notice), but since it opened last, it gets restored, and I lose a window of 20 or more tabs.

1. How do I get lost windows back? 2. How can I configure Firefox to restore ALL windows of the previous session, and not just 3?

So what are you history setting like?

I don't see a way there -- or anywhere -- to change how many windows FF restores.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

Maybe increase the number of windows that you can restore to see if that works for you.

You can modify this pref on the about:config page.

  • browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo (default=3)

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
