Firefox automatically reverts back to v43.0.4 from v44.0.2 on a Windows 7 OS after a reboot or restart. A clean reinstall of Firefox did not help.
Firefox automatically reverts back to v43.0.4 from v44.0.2 after a computer reboot or restart. The computer has Windows 7 Professional that is completely up to date (it has the Microsoft updates from February 9, 2016). The problem has existed since Firefox v44.0.
Chosen solution
I have deleted all Mozilla folders in program files. Interestingly, now version 45.0.0 loads by itself. Strange.

hi, this sounds like a strange issue. do you use any sandboxing software on that pc?
No, there is no sand boxing on this system. It seems to me that it is an update log issue where the update has not been logged. I don't know where that file might be. On the other hand, I did a clean reinstall - uninstalled Firefox and deleted remaining files. Did not work.
The problem is strange for sure. I have installed the latest version. Uninstalled it (44.0.2), and it comes back after a computer restart. All remaining files in Mozilla folders have been deleted. Is there a registry entry or key that is causing this?
Did you try to reboot after uninstalling Firefox and deleting the Firefox program folder?
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
Are both versions 32 bit versions?
