Hi, My Thunderbird email has stopped downloading emails from my server. I click to download emails, get a message saying "downloading 1 of 25" but no progression from here onwards. No messages are downloaded. I have made no changes to the settings and it has been working well for many years. wifi is connected.

All of the emails in my Archive folder and its sub-folders came up empty today 7/5/25, but were present yesterday 7/4/25. I have tried to locate hidden folders to restore them, but to no avail. The computer has not been rebooted. The content of all the other folders and accounts are as they should be.

Hello,

I'm trying to add my secondary email account to thunderbird but I couldn't make it work. I've been using thunderbird for at least 15 years and this is first time I'm seeing anything like that. I think Account Hub is a new feature, I had to reinstall my PC and fresh Thunderbird installation came with it.

The account hub asks for my name and email address. I enter both and as soon as I click continue it says my username or password is incorrect. I don't get any prompt for password. It hangs and gets stuck here.

As an alternative I tried entering a made up email address (something like asd@ba.da) and then it gets into manual settings. I thought I could get it sorted that way but I was wrong. After I fill the form and click continue I get the blank error message. if I click advanced setup it gives me an error about cleanup property. I also get an error message sayign incoming server already exists, that's probably because I have another email account on the same server, but I'm not sure why this is an issue now. Can't I have multiple email accounts on the same mail server?

Probably this has something to with my mail server's autoconfig setup. However I believe user should be able to manually enter account config, incoming/outgoing server etc. At the moment I'm totally blocked and I can't add my second email account to thunderbird.

Note that in global Settings, I have already set up the Message Store Type for New accounts to "File per message (maildir)". But I can't create a new local folder account.

I have 7 RSS Feeds installed and working.

The problem is that 5 of them only update when I right click and update manually but the first 2 update normally when I select "Get Messages".

I've checked each feed and they all seem correct in Properties.

Anyone out there have a suggestion or solution?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am using MacOS 10.13, Thunderbird 115.15.16ESR: my Hotmail worked until 15 May 2025 and then it would not download new emails. Screenshots are available if you want me to post them. I got an error message: "authentication failure while connecting to server outlook.office365.com". I updated Thunderbird to the latest for my OS: 115.18.0ESR. Still no new emails. I deleted my email account on Thunderbird and tried to reinstate it. Now I get an error message when trying to set up the account: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I tested my password by logging into my Microsoft account with it on my browser. I can also login to my email using Firefox, but I want my Thunderbird email client to work again.

The configuration I am using is: I use my normal hotmail password in the password field. I also set up a new App Password with Microsoft and tried that without success. With the 115.18 update there is a new field: Your login. I just put my hotmail email address in here. incoming: outlook.office365.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, Oauth2 
outgoing: smtp.office365.com, port 587, STARTTLS, Oauth2 (I have also tried: smtp-mail.outlook.com)

I enabled 2-step authentication with Microsoft in my Microsoft account more than a year ago. Interestingly, I don't get a prompt on my iPhone Microsoft Authentication App when I select Done when trying to set up the hotmail account on Thunderbird.

Please help. I am desperate, and I have wasted a lot of time on this without success. Cheers

In one of my two e-mail accounts I manage with Thunderbird via IMAP, the archive options (where I would like to configure that the archived messages go into folders organized by year) are greyed out. See attached screenshot. (In the other account, these options are accessible.) The account in question is a google-based work account; is this related to the inaccessibility of the archiving options? I am new to Thunderbird and needed help to import my contacts from Outlook. It wasn't easy; I had to reorganize the CSV file to match Thunderbird's format - what a pain. Then I needed to recreate all of my group addresses using Thunderbird's tools. I used some of these newly created group addresses a few weeks ago. Now all of the group addresses exist, but they have no members. What could have happened? And, what should I do to recover their contacts?

I never want this behavior, it is never useful. It's even screwed up my events by changing the end date to the next day. Why is there no option to disable this?

Recently I have started to have emails fail to deliver to a certain domain and the message that comes back is

550 DKIM Sender Invalid - envelope rejected.

I am using Thunderbird v128.8.1 esr (64-bit). Extensions installed are: 1. Attachment Saver (Deimios, v.0.2.2) 2. FileLink provider for Send (Teal Dulcet v2.1.1) 3. Remove Duplicate Messages (Eyal Rozenberg v0.6.1)

I have been in communication with this client for several years and not had this problem before. When I send email to the same recipients using WebMail there is no problem, it is only when I send from Thunderbird.

I am not using any encryption type of setup.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone know of a solution?

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.


the last time I received an email update on my desktop PC (Win 7 Pro) was 4:08PM (yes, PM) for one account and 4:44AM (yes, AM) for the other account. On my phone, the 4:08PM is the same but the other email account recd an update at 3:17PM.
