Hi, whenever I start Firefox up, one of the tabs randomly closes. This happens both with tabs from last session as well as newly opened bookmarks. Both on Windows 10 and Linux (MX Linux, Debian 9). Only one tab has to be "sacrificed" apparently, so I usually open the last bookmark twice.

What could be causing this? I attached what Extensions I'm currently using.

especially on startup, i get two 'windows' open. that is, instances. it happens because sometimes i click on firefox and nothing happens. if i decide too soon that it is not going to load, i click again and it then loads twice, and i get the nonsense about firefox already running. if this cannot be fixed, i would like to select allow only one instance to run as VLC offers.

I would like to be able to have two rows of tabs so things did not get so cluttered, but only if it is something like f8 to switch. since dos was squeezed out, nobody is using the f keys anyway.  :(

Hello, I found very different behaviour today between chrome, brave & firefox, firefoxdevedition with javascript and button.

As visible on the screenshots the button is created with its attributes GET and target profile.html via jinja2 templating.

But in addition, via javascript, I added a function to post the selected tables to a route called SaveToDatabase.

In chrome the js part gets executed and profile.html is loaded, but in firefox based browsers ONLY the js POST is executed and nothing else happens.

What could the problem here be?

Best regards and thank you in advance.

I got hello_xr to run but how does one view WebXR spaces by using the monado service for Firefox? I can still develop for captured mouse mode or use the WebXR API Emulator add-on but I still have not found documentation about how to get Firefox to talk to the HMD or its tracking system using monado-service. Hi, Does someone know how to install Firefox on Ubuntu Touch ?

I did install "Ubuntu touch" on my smartphone few weeks ago.

But without my favorite Firefox Navigator, this is useless for me !

Even a older version of Firefox will be fine. All i need for now, is a Sync of my configuration (bookmarks and Passwords Manager).

Greetings

Currently running 90.0.2 (64-bit) on Xubuntu.

I currently run two Firefox Windows. One is a single tab which contains a dashboard for databases that we are monitoring. The second (on a different monitor) is my "everything else window". When I click a link that is not in a browser (for instance in an email), I want to force the new tab to open in a specific window (the everything else one) or even better, to not open in a specific window (the other one).

Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Trying not to use a different browser to solve this.

TIA

Nigel.

Although i am downloading (watching on youtube) a big video 10 hours long, i think it doesnt supposed to use up so much memory as it did. It seems to use up all the memory and starts using pagefiles (although very little at first)

then, when i closed those tabs, still there is quite some memory utilization.

this is when i closed the tabs: "free m

and this is when i first opened firefox: "free m

Firefox behaviour with embedded PDF files

When I navigate to a web page with an embedded PDF file, the Firefox dialog box saying "You have chosen to open:..." pops up and I'm given options on how to open the PDF, either in Firefox (which opens it in a separate tab, or in a separate application which I can select (e.g. PDF Viewer), or to save the file.

Why does Firefox not open the PDF inside the current web page where it is supposed to be displayed? I don't want it opening in a separate tab and I don't want to download the file, I want to view it where it is.

This has security implications.

I have Firefox set to automatically download PDF files to my Downloads folder. My understanding, based on some common sense is that the automatic download setting should only apply when I click a download link. However, that is not what Firefox is doing.

Due to the above mentioned strange behavior when I open a web page with an embedded PDF, Firefox automatically downloads it as soon as the page loads. Firefox does not wait for me to click on any link, or to click on the embedded file.

I don't think it makes any sense to do this: the automatic download setting should govern what happens when you try to download a file, so there must be an intended action like clicking a link that tells Firefox you want to download it. It makes no sense, and I would argue it's downright dangerous, for Firefox to start downloading embedded items from web pages without the user's knowledge or consent.

Please can someone provide some insight into why Firefox is set up to work like this, or if it is a bug. I'll be happy to provide more info if needed.

Going back to a previous question that never got answered, I also am seeing corruption in whatever font Firefox and Thunderbird are using for their UI font. I have searched for various fixes, but none of them do anything to change the font used for the Firefox address bar, or the emails listing in Thunderbird. At most all you find is how to change the font size or scaling, which is going to be useless if the font is corrupted (or the applications are not handling them correctly).

I'm figuring the way to verify whether it's a font defect, as opposed to a problem with the underlying code from FF & TB, is to change what font the applications are using, and/or to reinstall the particular font in question. So what is it using, and how do you edit that?

For years I was experiencing problems with my printing. On many web pages (eg Consumer Reports) a banner was inserted at the top of the print page (printer and pdf) that blocked some of the text of the page. Also many blank pages were inserted at the end of the document. I don't know what I did exactly but the problem suddenly disappeared. What I did in frustration was to go to the about:config and filter to print. I didn't see anything that I would dare try to change. I isolated the modified choices. Well the bottom line was that when I tried to print a bad output the printing was perfect. I think the controls were in the about:config but they were never picked up or registered but I could be entirely wrong. I don't think I changed anything when I was in there. Before I did that I also tried to use Google Chrome. That one gave me a good print page also. Opera did not. Now Opera was working also. I am using Linux Mint 19.3. I just hope my computer doesn't have a relapse.

I've been working around Ubuntu not recognising my Wacom Cintiq Pen-Display by continuing to use Ubuntu 18.04. (Early versions of Ubuntu 18 didn't recognise the screen either and I continued using Ubuntu 16.something, until a new release fixed the problem, then it broke again). Trying to find a solution I discovered that by switching off the screen and back on again after booting and logging in, Ubuntu then recognised it and worked. When image processing, I need to do the switch off-on before invoking Gimp. I guess Gimp configures its IO at start up so that is understandable. Is there a better way either to configure Ubuntu so that it recognises the cintiq screen correctly at start up, or can I (re)start the system service or deamon that interfaces to it without it switching off-on? Thanks for taking the trouble to look at this. Kind regards 13arry 13arker

I have set a master password to protect my stored passwords, bug since then, I encounter two main problems.

First one, I have a corporate proxy with authentication. When master password is set, when starting Firefox, I get the master password prompt. After typing it, the page won't load, the authentication to the proxy isn't done and no proxy authentication dialog popup. I have tried to toggle the key network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies in about:config between true/false without success.

The other problem is when displaying store credentials (about:logins). You should type your master password, but then, the page displays no stored password. Waiting a bit (2-3 minutes) make them appear, but there is no loading indication and the browser becomes largely unresponsive surely due to the cost of password deciphering (I have a lot of stored passwords, around 700…).

I haven't found any bug declared for those two problems.

It seems the mobile view in Desktop has broken a while back, or something new from ad-networks is breaking it?

When loading pages with ads (tested with AdThrive) on mobile view, it's nearly impossible to browse. When scrolling, it just jumps back to the top of the page immediately. Only after fully loaded, does it kinda work, but then jumps again. Here is an example:

https://cheeseknees.com/strawberries-and-cream-stuffed-french-toast/

Load it on mobile view and see what I mean. I'm reaching out to AdTrhive as well, but not sure they'll care much since it's an emulated view and actual mobile devices work fine.
