After I renamed one of the sessionstore backups to sessionstore.jsonlz4, It says move it up one folder, & restart.

My path is ...APPDATA\ROAMING\MOZILLA\FIREFOX\PROFILES\8TWMWQ0P.DEFAULT-RELEASE\SESSIONSTORE-BACKUPS

I put new sessionstore.jsonlz4 in default-release folder & then profile folder, , no luck on restart.

Thats when I reread the support instructions & saw my DISTRIBUTION ID is blank, so I dont have Microsoft Store copy to begin with.

It is doing a restore previous, but just two tabs from a 2nd session that was open at same time (oops on me) & , I am trying to get back to 40 tabs I was using.

Hi, I realized the other day when I went to use firefox that my bookmarks and history were all missing from firefox. I first tried to see if it was a profile issue like listed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks but even though it had another profile my history and bookmarks weren't in the other other profile either. Next I tried the next method on the page where it says you can go to manage bookmarks then once in your library you can click restore to fix it but it refuses to bring up any files or folders when I do this. Also the library is totally empty and there's none of the previous shortcuts that show up from your most common pages when you open the new tabs, but when I opened firefox the first time it had the tabs I was previously on when I opened it like the previous session. My computer is very old and sometimes doesn't like to open new applications but a web browser or folder is basic enough that I've never really had issues with it other than slowness.

I apologize for the stupid question and greatly appreciate your patience. Thank you very much for any help in advance.

Honestly, I don't know that "topic" best describes my situation. I am not a "techy" and should not be required to be a "techy" to be able to use Firefox and have it not create terrible problems for me.

Where did my favorites and extensions and homepage go? I clicked "refresh" since you, Firefox, RECOMMENDED THAT I CLICK "REFRESH," and

EVERYTHING IS GONE.

Where is EVERYTHING? I cannot get it back and do not have anything saved. I trusted you. There is no Firefox folder saved to my desktop. There is NOTHING. I have simply lost about 50 FAVORITES PAGES that I NEEDED.

This is disgusting and a betrayal. Firefox? Never again.

Before reinstalling Windows, I made a backup, but since I didn't update the system until a day later due to work, I forgot the backup password. I've tried every password I could think of, and I don't know what to do now.

I Upgraded to Firefox 151.0.1 and all my bookmarks are gone. I tried restoring from a backup, but Firefox sees no backups. It's like I started from scratch and there is nothing there. Even though I do have backups on my iMac.

Is there anyway to revert to the previous version of Firefox?

Hi, everyone. I had two Firefox windows open, and I accidentally closed the main one, which caused all my tabs to disappear. I tried the methods described in the recovery guide, but nothing worked. Please let me know if you can recover these tabs. Thank you very much in advance.

With the new Firefox updates I no longer see my bookmarks. I tried the FAQ's and suggestions but I don't understand them. I need my bookmarks back ASAP! Tried ctrl-shift-B it did nothing.

Ok, I screwed up.

I was trying to solve a problem I've been having with regular releases of Firefox and it occurred to me try the ESR release so I downloaded and installed it. The good news is that it solved my problem, the bad news is that I just barrelled into it without thinking, assuming that my logins and bookmarks would just transfer over like with regular releases. They did not. It turns out I should have made a backup of those things first and I can't open the old regular release of Firefox to properly back-up those things now. Oops.

I've been reading lots of forum posts here and elsewhere trying to get those files into ESR and I haven't been successful. From the profile manager I've located the profile that still contains that info and I've tried:

Copying and pasting the "logins.json" and "key4.db" files from the "default-release" profile into the ESR profile which didn't work.

From "about:profiles" I also tried to "launch profile in a new browser" of the default-release profile so I can open that profile and properly back-up bookmarks and logins but I get a prompt to create a new profile which I tried several times and only resulted in several profiles of the ESR release.

Then it occurred to me that If I could just delete all instances of ESR and open the old default-profile then I could back-up the logins and bookmarks, THEN download and install ESR again and import those files but before diving into that I need to make sure that won't loose my original default-release profile info.

So experts, does that sound reasonable? Delete all instances of ESR so I can open the regular Firefox? What's the best way of going about that?

EVERY timne I open your damned rotten system I lose ALL my hundreds of vital bookmarks and it takes me half a day fiddling about to recover them STOP IT. For goodness sake you are ruining my life. STOP IT!!!!!!!

GET ME A LIFE PLEASE. DESPERATE. HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!

New version 151 update last night and now all saved data is gone. No backup bookmark files created that I can see, so nothing to import. Where does Firefox keep its backup files for previous version?

When I look under appdata, roaming profiles, there is NO MOZILLA folder as has been suggested. Where is all my data??

Noticed the issue yesterday (5/21/2026) . My tabs were not what I had when I closed it the night before but from several hours earlier .

I googled for some help and was told to go , Help>More troubleshooting information> Profile Folder>sessionstore-backups and look for the backup I want , and rename as sessionstore.jsonlz4 (deleting the old one) . That did not work so as a temp fix I am using the session manager extension. 

How to fix this ?
