My previously stable Thunderbird install stopped sending outgoing messages a few days ago. I get a "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.charter.net timed out. Try again." error message. Charter says not their problem because I can send from their email web site. I've disabled anti-virus, tweaked SMPT settings to match the recommended settings, and tried just about every combination of security and authentication setting there is and got nowhere. If I turn authentication off, I stop getting the time out error and get an user name rejected error. I am out of ideas.

Instead of syncing my current settings, sync just overwrote them with an old, outdated copy from another device, completely ruining my addons, bookmarks and various other settings. I managed to restore the bookmarks, but is there really no proper way to undo this or prevent such thing from happening in the first place? Is there no way to control if I want to sync my setting TO the server or FROM the server? How such a vital decision is even made then and why wouldn't there be a way for a user to control that? This is so disappointing :(

Today every time I open my e-mail account I get the following error message: "The folder Inbox on (my zoominternet e-mail address) could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again." Never seen this error message before today. What should I do to get rid of it or correct the problem? I am receiving e-mails, but I haven't tried to send any. Thank you.

When I first installed Thunderbird and added an email account it asked for the email address, take and password. Upon setting up additional accounts it only asks for name and email address, not the password. There is no option to enter email details manually. The only manual option available is to configure an email config after it has been added. The adding of email addresses should be presented the same way as the very first initial email setup upon install. This isn't happening. I've used three separate terminal to do this on Mac and Win platform: Same issue.

For years I have had a second monitor with Twitch or YouTube active while gaming. Now, for the past week, whenever I am tabbed into any game my video will freeze. Audio is unaffected. I have tried network.http.throttle.version to true or false, and network.http.throttle.enable to false. Hardware accel is off. Either setting seems to have no effect. What else can I try to fix this issue?

Not sure if this is the right place to get this to the devs. The checkmark as a save function in bookmarks being taken out is potentially damaging to the user in they may accidently modify the bookmark and lose it forever. I just had a very risky accident modifying a bookmark title not realizing clicking out would permanently delete it. A link to a website that doesn't exist anymore. It doesn't take much to modify "___.com/isiuc7" and permanently lose either the link or the title which contains info "2021 directory"

I hope this issue can be pushed up the chain in priority. Adding back a save before you leave function even if not in the form of a checkmark.

Hi there. I wanted to switch my account from my current (A15) to my new device (A16), but the problem is I searched for the QR code option and it's not there at all. Is this an issue or i misplaced the option?

I am trying to save a template and TB (141.00) keeps saving it in the 'Local Folders' template subfolder. I found this archived thread about this issue: https://support.mozilla.org/km/questions/1420516

I have changed the target folder to the appropriate account subfolder, closed/restarted TB, and this behavior persists. Anybody got a solution?

I'm using Thunderbird on a MacBook Pro with multiple M365 and Google Workspace accounts. I have created two Saved Searches, which are in Favorites Folders and perform as intended (one searching multiple email addresses across multiple Inboxes). A third search has been created several times and keeps disappearing. It searches for all Inbox email across 3 accounts and searches for 6 different emails (To: or cc:). This third search is actually where I spend most of my day, so it's important to me. Any thoughts???

Firefox does not work with many websites any more. I constantly get notifications from websites telling me I need to update my browser. I am not able to download many forms and some videos no longer work. I've tried to update but I'm on some ESR & still get notifications that my browser is not supported by many websites. I have windows 11 (chg from 10 in March 2025), 64 bit but it says my system is not sufficient & that I'm running windows 8 which I am not. I have made the decision, after over 10 yrs using Firefox, that I'm going to move everything to Chrome. I HATE that I have to do this but I can't get any support/help from Mozilla or firefox to correct whatever the problem is. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate. Done

On settings >Data manage t I am getting to many cookies. I feel that the tracking protection is not working normal in protecting me. I like to use the Firefox browser but I don’t like it when I see way too many cookies showing up in Data management. Can this be corrected?

I imported about 80 bookmark folders and subfolders from Chrome. These are the only folders I use, and I access them by the Favorites button at the left end of the bookmarks toolbar. But when I type CTRL + D, the menu shows only Other Bookmarks. I click the right-hand arrow, which adds Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu. How can I save to my imported folders?

At least once a day I'll get a popup message that says my Earthlink password has failed and gives the option to Retry or Cancel. If I press Retry, the password works and I can download my email but the email alert sound keeps playing over and over until I have to shut down Thunderbird and relaunch it to stop it from doing that. I've had to disable incoming mail alerts. I've checked my email settings with Earthlink and they're all correct. I'm currently using version 128.12.0esr (64-bit) on Ubuntu but this has happened on multiple versions over the last few years.

Win10-64 TBird 141.0 64-bit everything fully upated

Yesterday T'Bird stopped displaying the message content in a pane below the messages list when I single-clicked on the message. A double-click does display the message contents in a new pop-up pane/tab, but this is quite inconvenient.

I don't know what I did to cause this, but I'd like to go back!
