Cannot Disable “Ask ChatGPT” Text-Selection Popup — No Related Preferences in about:config

Hello,

I am experiencing an unwanted UI behavior in Firefox. When I select text on any webpage, Firefox displays a floating “Ask ChatGPT” bubble above the selected text. This happens regardless of the site. I want to disable this feature, but Firefox provides no setting or preference to do so.

This is not caused by any extension. I verified this by checking about:addons, and I only have the following extensions installed:

DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials

Firefox Translations

Gibiru for Firefox

None of them inject any ChatGPT functionality.

I then opened about:config to disable the feature, but the usual preferences do not exist on my system. Keys such as:

ui.textSelectEnabled

browser.selection.menu.enabled

browser.ml.chat.enabled

browser.ml.chat.openai.enabled

browser.ml.enabled

are missing, and Firefox only shows the “add new preference” (+) icon. That means Firefox did not expose any toggles for this behavior.

I am including a screenshot showing the unwanted “Ask ChatGPT” popup that appears when selecting text.

I need instructions on how to permanently disable this text-selection popup, or confirmation on whether this is part of a controlled rollout or experiment that cannot be disabled on my version of Firefox.

Thank you.

Whenever I type in "photo", Firefox has always autocompleted to photos.google.com. Today it's started autocompleting to photoquotes.com instead; a site I never use, and I don't know why Firefox is suggesting it.

I have followed SEVERAL guides for how to remove sites from autocomplete suggestions, and all of them give wrong advice.

I have gone to History/Manage History and 'Forget about this site'. That does not remove the site from autocomplete.

I have tried 'Hover over the entry to select it, then click delete'. This does not work. It only deletes the last character entered in the address bar.

I have tried 'Select the three-dot menu beside the suggestion and select Remove from history'. That is Not Possible with the top result in autocomplete, which appears above Firefox suggestions.

Could someone please tell me the CORRECT answer on how to remove specific websites from being suggested in autocomplete!?

I found 'chromeasia.com' autocompleting in the Firefox address bar upon typing 'ch'. I searched History for this and there was no sign of it. I cleared all history data, rebooted, ran a disk cleanup and find that 'chromeasia.com' stil autocompletes upon typing 'ch' in the address bar.

Any suggestions or advice on how to clear this would be warmly appreciated. Thanks. Stephen

Address bar in Firefox 140 doesn't let me select search engines using up and down arrows

Before upgrading to Firefox 140, I would always quickly switch between my default DuckDuckGo and alternative search options, like Wikipedia, using the up and down arrows. I would just type the search term in the address bar and then tap the down key a couple of times before pressing enter if I wanted to use a different search engine.

The new address bar no longer seems to offer this option. I see I can still select alternative search engines using the mouse, but pressing the down key no longer lets me select them.

Is it possible to re-enable this way of quickly switching between search engines using the keyboard?
