When my firefox upgraded from v19 to v20, I lost buttons, context, appearance. It's like I went back to a 1990's browser in appearance. and I can't find a way to go back to v19 and those settings.

I had to use Chrome just so I could log into your site to leave this message.

I will continue to use chrome until someone can tell me how to get my settings back in Firefox.

Thank you.

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once?

Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

Did all of those steps, with no change. Still do not have any web page special effects, including but not limited to buttons, frames on windows, drop down menus, themes and color schemes. Again, all of these things display fine in Chrome.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings and that you allow pages to choose their colors in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

I do NOT have high contrast active, and I do have Allow pages to choose.... checked.

I have attached two screen shots of the same web page to show the issue - the more colorful one is from Chrome, and it is as Firefox USED to be (pre v.20). The other screenshot is firefox after upgrading to v20. This change is typical across EVERY website I have hit in Firefox, so it is something in the firefox settings.

This really looks like an issue with either a high contrast theme selected or web page colors being disabled.

Do you have an extension like NoSquint installed that modifies the page colors?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Attached is a screen shot of the Google home page as it now appears, I changed no Foxfire settings, who did?

I restarted in safemode. the same color scheme (or lack thereof) happened. The only theme installed is the DEFAULT theme.

There are no add-ons like "NoSquint" - in fact, I disabled ALL add-ons in an attempt to restore the colors.

I have tried both checking "Allow web pages to choose their own colors" and checking "use system colors", both separately, and together, to restore a more appropriate view. NEITHER has worked.
