Both "Bookmarks/Show all Bookmarks" AND Bookmarks tab at far right of Bookmarks Toolbar show me only Bookmarks folders. No actual bookmarks.

Bookmarks Toolbar seems to work fine. But if I go to Firefox tab and select Bookmarks and look in any bookmarks folder, the folders show "Empty"... Same with Bookmarks display at far right of Bookmarks Toolbar.

Possibly your places.sqlite file in the profile is damaged. Find the profile from Help > Troubleshooting Information, then exit Firefox and move places.sqlite out of that location, then start up Firefox again. The bookmarks will be put back from the latest backup. If that fixes the problem, you can delete the file you moved.

Finitarry, Thank you for your suggestion. Did as you suggested. Moved places.sqlite file out of profile. Then closed Firefox, and for extra measure I restarted Windows. Opened Firefox, checked Bookmarks/Show all Bookmarks. Problem remains. Just folders, no bookmarks.

Please make a copy of all your bookmark backups in a safe place to avoid overwriting them.

Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder"

Copy the bookmarkbackups folder somewhere outside the Mozilla path.

Next, in that folder, can you see any files that are much larger? You could try restoring one of those. The steps to restore a particular backup file are described in this article:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-up-bookmarks-or-move-them-to-another-computer#w_restoring-from-backups

If the files all look the same or restore equally badly, it might be necessary to perform some manual surgery on the backup files. Hopefully it won't come to that!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have tried all suggestions; no success. I have exported Firefox bookmarks, imported them to Chrome and bookmarks work as they should. I then used Control Panel to delete Firefox from my machine. Downloaded and installed a fresh copy of Firefox and imported bookmarks from Chrome export. And I still have the problem in Firefox. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have used Firefox for many years and I would like to continue using it, but I may have to change to Chrome just so I can do housecleaning on my bookmarks.
