Site Identity Button Colors doesn't work properly anymore (Firefox 14 b12). It is not possible to access the Option window.

And what about those of us who don't have tab bars because browser tabs are redundant and unnecessarily duplicate the functionality of the Windows task bar?

I think an add-on would be needed to insert the favicon in a new location.

Maybe use code like this in userChrome.css that was used in previous Firefox versions.

The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

Did you try it with only this code in userChrome.css as a quick test?

If you have an extension or code that effects the favicon (#page-proxy-favicon) then you may have to remove that code.

First tried in my regular Profile with 14.0.1, but I found 3 stylish scripts that affected it. Even with those scripts disabled it didn't work.

Tried it in another Profile running 14.0.1 - that has no code except that in userChrome.css and no Stylish scripts,

I tried it in an Aurora Profile that only had Feedback and ChromEdit Plus installed, still didn't work.

cor-el listed these add-ons in another thread. Since they were just developed in the past few days, and have not been fully reviewed by the Add-ons team, proceed with caution.

Bring back the favicon. I do not want a generic globe in my address bar. I do not have an SSL secure site; it's not needed. The globe looks incredibly unprofessional. Why do engineers think they know what's best for everybody!!!!

Sorry, Mozilla isn't going to change that feature in Firefox just because a few users (or even a few thousand users) don't like that new feature.

Install one of the add-ons that jscher2000 mentioned in his posting just above yours to change it back to the way it was.

But seriously, this change was made due to concern that the favicon could be used to spoof the padlock or other indications of a secure site. This is why the site identity area is now off limits to websites.

Let the buyer beware. The globe looks awful. And most visitors to a site are not going to have the add-on. And if nobody ever complains, nothing ever changes.

That is a security feature, as mentioned, to prevent spoofing by a website. Firefox isn't alone with an "awful looking globe" image, the one in Opera 12 (and 11.63) looks as bad as the one Mozilla is using. Aesthetics or security, which is more important?

Now I'm just sayin'...

Install ANOTHER add-on to fix something that Fx "broke" that will itself, in turn, be broken when Fx updates again in 6 weeks...

Would have been nice if They had told us IN BIG BOLD LETTERS They had done this on the Firefox Features page which opens after new install. I just checked, & yep, it's there, but you have to dig for it--it's NOT obvious. I just spent a week bitchin' out Glary Utilities 'cuz it hijacked my search page, and, as I had installed it the same day I updated Fx, I blamed the bland, ugly globe on THEM!

Bet we ALL read that "What's NEW" page a bit more closely in future!
