I have a Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.6.8 and I want to export the bookmarks from Safari into Firefox 7.0.1?
Safari is version 5.1 on my Mac Book Pro.

Make sure that you are not running Firefox in permanent Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.
- You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
- To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
Check if any Downloads are in progress. Wait for them to complete or cancel the downloads.

I do not have in Firefox under the drop down menu FILE the import command.
So, I am up an alley and without a proper solution.
Finally, I found the right menu in bookmarks to import the bookmarks from Safari into Firefox. I have one last problem and it stems from the opening of Firefox and I always get this dialog box that does not go away unless I click on the X button. I have added a print screen (grab in Apple) to this reply.
