Amazon "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" feature not working properly
The Amazon "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" feature has stopped working for me recently, I have however noticed that if I click on the arrow to go to the next suggestions and the open my All in one sidebar the next suggestions load
URL of affected sites
http://http://www.amazon.co.uk/
Chosen solution
I had the same problem on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk (none of the recommendations carousels worked; they were blank or the arrows for browsing did not work).
Wiping cookies and cache and fiddling with add-ons did nothing.
Toggling dom.storage to "true" (it was "false") in about:config solved the problem.
I cannot remember why it was set to "false", but I have a niggling suspicion it might have been a part of some forgotten "Speed-Up-Firefox" scheme from long ago.

Hello Peter.
Try reading this: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Websites+look+wrong
In any case, you may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Hi Morbus
Thanks for your quick response.
I have tried running with my add-ons disabled but I still get the same behaviour, also I tried the various suggestion from the page you suggested but they have not cured my problem unfortunately.
Cheers
Peter
Try to clear the Amazon cookies. "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Hi Cor-el
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have tried removing the Amazon cookies and then removing all cookies, but I still have not had any luck.
The only way I get scroll through the items is by clicking on one of the arrows, (left or right) and then opening my all-in-one sidebar, as soon as the sidebar is opened the next set of items starts loading.
Cheers
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")
I have the same issue. I can press 'F11' to go to full screen and the next row of items will load. My OS is XP.
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.
Hi Greg
Thanks for your answer, I too can get the next row of items to load but going full screen, but then I need to go windowed and f11 again in order to get the next page to load.
I am currently trying to disable my addons one at a time to see if I can get to the cause.
Cheers
Peter
I started in safe mode and disabled all addons. Same symptoms. This is on the US amazon site.
It may be a problem with the site. Are you sure that's not the case?
It works fine in Chrome and IE 8.
That's not what I meant. The site may be having a problem specifically with Firefox.
Still, try creating a temporary new Firefox profile and see if the same thing happens:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
This will tell whether it's something from your Firefox settings or something from outside Firefox.
New profile corrected it. Now to find out why. Might be easier to just load my addons and import history and start over?
That shouldn't be necessary if we find out what's causing it.
Please type about:support in your address bar and press ENTER, then click "Copy all to clipboard". Then paste here. Hopefully that will give me a bit more information to work with.
Also, please do this (what I asked above about the about:support) when you have all add-ons disabled.

Well, from that report, I can't see anything that is wrong... Are you sure you cleared your cache correctly? see how
Since this only appears in your profile, there must be something wrong with it...
In any case, you can always import your customizations into the new profile, as you said. Just as long as you're fine with it, anything works, I guess.
Just switched back to my own profile and tried the Amazon site again, it throws up this error message in the error console.
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Security error" code: "1000" nsresult: "0x805303e8 (NS_ERROR_DOM_SECURITY_ERR)" location: "http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sega-Aliens-Vs-Predator-PS3/dp/B002BA52JQ/ref=pd_ts_vg_h__23?ie=UTF8&s=videogames Line: 7677"]
Anyone know what this means
Cheers
Peter
I removed 'prefs.js' from my original profile. This brought up the configuration dialog for my addons and the amazon problem went away. Must have been an addon problem.
I was having this same problem, but I was able to narrow it down to the setting dom.storage.enabled in the prefs.js file. I had it set to false for some reason. Changing it to the default value of true fixed the problem.
