In about:config I set browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll to true and browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll to true

Now, single clicks in the address bar select the entire URL except when the address bar contains an address provided by New Tab Override. Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

Thanks.

Chosen solution

Those about:config settings don't exist in version 123 anymore and won't do anything, you should delete them to avoid confusion.

The New Tab Override settings page explains the limitations:

The automatic emptying of the address bar or selecting the URL is currently not possible for WebExtensions.

Enable the setting "Set focus to the web page instead of the address bar".

I just deleted the two click selects lines from about:config. I checked the set focus to page box. I changed the New Tab page to be an online page. These are acceptable changes. :) Thanks!

Note that the clickSelectsAll prefs are no longer supported since Firefox 75, so this behavior is the case for quite some time.
