Dear Mozilla

Long time user (love it) but the browser is consuming a lot of memory. With the same windows open in Chrome, Firefox is consuming 5 times the amount making the system slower glitchy.

This has been an issue for awhile and I checked all the posted solutions. Either the software is consuming an that is normal or something is running in the background. Firefox is at 1831.5 MB as I type this.

Can I uninstall then reinstall? or is everything going to return?

Press Shift+Esc to get more details of processes and memory consumption.

You can reduce the number of processes per site by going to about:config and changing dom.ipc.processCount.webIsolated to 1 then restarting the browser.

You can make tab unloading on low memory more aggressive by increasing the value of browser.low_commit_space_threshold_mb.
