Add-ons are not installing
Hello, I have recently tried to install a couple different add-ons and the same thing happens each time; once I click "Add to Firefox," the little blue ball goes left to right but nothing ever happens beyond that. I have the most recent version of the browser and have never had any issues prior. I do not have a VPN running or any other software interfering my connection. All other website and downloads seem to function normally. Can someone shed some light on what's going wrong here?

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.
Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
After, restart Firefox.

Thanks, I tried this but no change. (Luckily I had the sense to make a backup of my existing extensions so I could copy them back to the extensions folder if needed, and it was ahaha).
I then thought maybe I could save the *xpi for the extension I wanted, close my browser, copy it into the extension folder, and then open my browser again, but this did not install it as I'd hoped it might. No idea what is going on... guess I'm not meant to add anything right now lol.

Did you use this method: right-click the Add to Firefox button, and then click Save Link As... to save the file?
If that worked, it sounds like making a connection to the server is not the problem. However, I'm not sure what the problem is.
What happens if you try to drop that XPI file directly into a Firefox tab (where the currently loaded page is)? Normally after thinking about it for a second or two, Firefox will display a little puzzle piece icon at the left end of the address bar, and the usual drop-down showing what permissions are required, and asking whether you want to add it. Anything like that?
Note: installing from a local copy of the file probably breaks automatic extension updating.
