None of the suggestions @ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1268056 work for me, with FF v70.0.1 (64-bit).

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN CLOSED, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS ONLY THE FIREFOX LOGO ON THE LEFT - THE REST OF THE TITLE BAR IS INVISIBLE.

THIS MAKES GUESSING WHERE THE UPPER RIGHT (STANDARD WINDOWS "MINIMIZE, MAXIMIZE, OR EVEN CLOSE) THE USER MUST TRY MULTIPLE PLACES ABOVE, OR RELATIVELY CLOSE TO WHERE THE TOP RIGHT OF WHERE THE TITTLE BAR SHOULD BE.

THIS IS NOT A CLOSED ISSUE - THERE HAVE BEEN NO FIXES POSTED, THAT COME CLOSE TO RESOLVING THE PROBLEM.

TAKE THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR YOUR USERS - IT NEEDS TO BE SERIOUSLY ADDRESSED SOON, WITH REAL FIXES.

SO FAR I HAVE BROWSED AND TRIED MULTIPLE QUESTIONS WITH "SOLUTIONS" THAT SIMPLY DO NOT WORK FOR WINDOWS 7. HOWEVER, BASED ON THE MULTIPLE QUESTIONS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE ON WIN 10 AND MACS, IT IS NOT A PLATFORM RELATED ISSUE.

PLEASE POST A REAL, FUNCTIONAL FIX TO THIS ISSUE - IT IS NOT FIXED.

Thanks for creating your own thread. Posting a reply in various other threads is not a good idea because you didn't tell what OS and Firefox version you were using (some were about Mac and others about Windows).

Can you attach a screenshot to show how it looks in your case?

Hi cor-el,

I do apologize in advance for this lengthy response - you need to accurately see everything that I have posted on this issue.

I am not trying to insult you - you have been very helpful in the past, which I have greatly appreciated.

However, If you had actually read this restated post, you would have known that I have answered many of your distracting questions, which have been stated by myself and many others (regardless of platform.)

I have stated in almost every reply that I am using a PC. Even your response indicates that you did not read this post - I never said that I am on a Mac, but some of the MAC related questions are identical 'REGARDLESS OF PLATFORM.'

If you had read the section of this post (which I have "Bolded" the specific pertinent section that stated the information that you say that I have not provided.

I will attach Screen Captures, which are not much different than all of the prints posted by others with the same issue - REGARDLESS OF PLATFORM.

I will include all of my responses regarding this issue since you have only been noting the number of comments, not fully reading any of my responses.

Click on the hamburger menu button (the last button on the right in the toolbar). The main menu will appear. Click on Customize. The Customize mode will be enabled. At the bottom, find and enable the check box Title bar.

This solution was the first that was suggested (in the second post) but it doesn't address the issue which is not the absence of title bars but the absence of title in the title bars. Nick

Not only is the title bar only showing the Firefox logo on the left - NOTHING ELSE IS VISIBLE, INCLUDING THE REST OF THE TITLE BAR. Ever since my last update to v70+, THERE IS NO TITLE, THE STANDARD WINDOWS CONTROL BUTTONS ARE NOT VISIBLE (YOU HAVE TO GUESS WHERE THE CLOSE BUTTON, AND THE OTHERS MIGHT BE).

The most common answer given here in the forums, is to use the "Customize" choice - THE CHECKBOX FOR THE TITLE BAR TURNS ON THE INVISIBLE TITLE, WITH ONLY THE FF LOGO ON THE LEFT TOP CORNER.

PLEASE DIRECT US TO A REAL FIX.

BTW, FIREFOX IS THE ONLY PROGRAM ON MY PC THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM WHICH WAS BROKEN WITH THE 70+ VERSIONS.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Sorry cor-el,

None of any of the posted fixes for this problem, including this post, have worked for me. A fraction of these related postings , which give suggestions that do not work for me, follows:

   https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1267003#answer-1269564
   https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1271477?page=1

Although the latter regards MACs, the PC interpretation does not work.

CONTINUATION OF THE OPENING OF THIS RESPONSE:

cor-el,

As I stated in NEARLY every question or response to this issue - I use a PC.

In other responses to this I have stated that I am using Windows 7 (I didn't specify that it is actually Win 7 64-bit Pro.)

So, to make sure that you have all of my specs, as I have already posted most of them in my other replies:

  1. I use Windows 7 64-bit Pro
  2. I am on a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
  3. I am using Mozilla FireFox v70.0.1 (64-bit)

THE REASON I HAD TO POST MY OWN QUESTION, IS THAT MANY POSTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN CLOSED, ELIMINATING THE ACCURACY OF CONTINUED RESOLUTION. WHEN YOU CLOSE THESE THREADS, THAT ARE NOT RESOLVED, YOU TEACH YOUR USERS THAT MOZILLA FF IS NOW PURELY DESIGNED FOR THE DESIGNERS, NOT FOR ACTUAL USERS.

As I said at the beginning, above, cor-el, I am not trying to insult you - you have been very helpful in the past, which I have greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, for some reason you missed all of the facts that I had already given in parts of 4 other replies, plus the additional question here (all quoted above).

Attached are the following Screen Captures:

Note that for me PC means Personal Computer as another name for a computer. Platform means Linux or Mac or Windows. Operating System means a specific OS on a platform like Mac OX 10.14 or Windows Vista or other Windows versions like Windows 7-10 that all might behave differently.

The first screenshot shows that the menu bar has black text that is hardly visible and that might suggest that the title bar has black text on black background and is not visible at all.

Does is has any effect if you select a different Windows theme (i.e. can you find one that works better) ?

cor-el,

PLEASE read my lengthy response, above your last reply.

You have an interesting perception of the history of the PC. The PC originated as an IBM product (then knock offs, which I built 12+ of FROM SCRATCH myself, before laptops) with the DOS operating system sold to MICROSOFT. For most PC users, PC means DOS/WINDOWS based machines. MACs are MACs. Otherwise, we would need to rename all smart devices, cell phones, etc. as PC's, since they ARE also simply a variation on a "Personal Computer".

I have been a mainframe programmer and systems analyst SINCE 1982.

GIVEN THAT, WHEN SOMEONE WHO HAS USED PCs SINCE THEY WERE FIRST INTRODUCED (LATE 1980'S) - THE PC ACRONYM "PC", FOR PC LITERATE USERS, HAS ONLY APPLIED TO IBM-STYLE ORIGINAL MACHINES, COMBINED WITH MICROSOFT DOS/WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM.

The statement "Platform means Linux or Mac or Windows" is historically wrong - THOSE ARE JUST GENERIC, SUBSTITUTIONS FOR THE OPERATING SYSTEM - WITH THE VERSION LEFT OFF.

THAT REALLY IS NOT THE ISSUE - FIREFOX IS BROKEN. AS I HAVE SAID MULTIPLE TIMES THIS ISSUE IS APPARENTLY UNRELATED TO THE OS - AS IT HAS BEEN STATED BY OTHER POSTERS, IT HAPPENS WITH EVERY OS.

That being said, YOU DID NOT READ MY VERY LENGTHY, DETAILED COMMENTS WHERE I QUOTED PARTS OF OTHER OF MY REPLIES - WHICH CLEARLY ANSWER NEARLY EVERY QUESTION THAT YOU JUST RE-ASKED AGAIN.

Mozilla clearly has a problem.

You can read my lengthy reply, AND YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF THAT I HAVE ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION, in that reply except about "Themes", which I will now address.

I am very well aware of how themes work AND KNOW VERY WELL HOW TO CHANGE THEM.

I primarily use a suite of software, by StarDock, which can change the appearance of nearly all Windows based systems.

That method HAS NEVER CAUSED ME A PROBLEM, WITH ANY SOFTWARE, INCLUDING FIREfOX. EVERY OTHER PROGRAM (NOTE IMAGES #3 AND #4, IN MY LAST REPLY), where both of those images were captured - WHILE USING StarDock PROGRAMS. (WHICH I HAVE LOYALLY SUPPORTED FOR WELL OVER 7-10 YEARS.)

However, the only impacted title bar/Windows controls IS FIREFOX. Which has been caused by Mozilla 70+.

The first 2 images in my last reply, illustrate the FireFox problem.

These 2 are captured in a different way. As a very long-term Windows user (since Windows 3.1) I am very aware of how to change the themes with just Windows Control Panel themes.

I disabled all StarDock programs, re-booted and switched to Windows Control Panel "Personalization". I intentionally set the desktop to black, so that each window will show its borders. (Unfortunately, since v70+, FireFox does not.)

Within Windows Personalization, I also changed the desktop, with Windows Themes. THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE.

I also tried changing the FF Themes. NONE OF THEM SHOW A LEGIBLE TITLE LINE (JUST LOGO, AS THE IMAGE YOU ATTACHED, CLEARLY ILLUSTRATES THE PROBLEM. THERE IS NO VISIBLE, LEGIBLE TITLE TEXT. I cannot tell from your capture, if there are any VISIBLE, STANDARD Windows Control buttons, on the right corner of the TITLE BAR.)

Again, cor-el, I am NOT trying to insult or demean you.

I am just getting extremely frustrated when you keep trying to make me look like an idiot. I VERY LIKELY HAVE MUCH MORE PROGRAMMING AND DEBUGGING EXPERIENCE THAN YOU DO.

STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE ALREADY ANSWERED, MULTIPLE TIMES.

Let's get to finding a solution - I seriously doubt that many users have given the forum as many details as I have.

It's time to READ MY LAST RESPONSE.

I do have a clue that may help your designers - however it's probably just a temporary work-around for Windows systems (versions 7-10).

I did discover that with both the pre-installed Windows themes/colors/etc and with themes created by StarDock - only the "AERO" based themes will correctly display Firefox's Title Bar, with Windows controls.

I don't know if it's just my system, or if this might be a temporary work-around for Windows users. I do suspect that MACs may have fairly similar themes to Window's "AERO" themes (just fairly standard shape and control themes. The ones for Windows are in many colors and textures, but retain most other "AERO" design features.

That may satisfy many user's frustration with this FF problem - but probably just as a temporary work-around. This does needs to be fixed soon.

cor-el, if you would like to take this off-line, with FF's private messages, that would be fine.

We all want the same thing - FireFox to work correctly.
