How do I restore my old system and get back some clarity?

Since going to "new" FF my PC has slowed such that my keyboard and my mouse pause after just a few keystrokes/movements. This began with the download and continues. NONE of your so-called "help" pages has info that is on-topic or clearly stated for those of us who are not computer dicks. I cannot find one page of helpful info that does not first send me in circles only to end in some kind of coke-fed phrasing. I just want to restore my computer (with the old FF that worked) and get some work done. PLEASE! And, I must add, STOP TRACKING MY pages!!!!!

Do you know if you have the latest bug fix version of Firefox -- 57.0.2 -- that was released on December 7th?

This may be indicated in the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program, or if you can run Firefox for a couple of minutes, you can check the "About Firefox" dialog on the Help menu.

If not, please install that version. You can download it here:
