Remove Hotelscombined, anonymous search, wow.com hits

Firefox has been very problematic for me in the last month or two. These main things I note that I don't like:

1. Everything gets very slow and I inevitably find a window - a firefox window - at the back of all my windows showing an ad from hotelscombined.com.au. How stupid are these people? Sowing hate. I hate them with a venom already. Anyway, how to get rid of that?

2. My searches keep getting a little funny head icon up there and I find it is 'anonymous search'. How's that come about? I don't want that. They should be just normal googles.

3. My search hits are full of wow.com things - and something else, similar - coming up before the real list. How do I get all that rubbish out of the way?

I've moved over to Opera until I can get all this sorted because it is just too bad.

Did not help. It's a search link. You're being sarcastic? Suggesting I look for myself? I have looked for myself. And failed to find. Thought to come here as I see it as a Mozilla problem. Only to find someone telling me to go away and search the web.

I even went so far down one of those paths as to install the 'windows special uninstaller' which, as I expected, was unable to find the thing.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software. These programs don't all look for the same types of Malware, so you will need to use multiple programs; listed in order of efficacy.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista if you don't already have one. Windows 8/10 have antivirus protection built-in.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
