I keep getting scribble lines in my browser, how do i fix?

more options

The "scribble" lines look like they have been drawn on by Photoshop or some other tool, i assure you they have not been. These have only appeared since i upgraded my version of the browser to the latest.

These lines are getting in the way of my browsing. I have firebug and ad-block plus installed as addons, i have tried disabling and un-installing both, but this had no effect. I have since re-installed them and there is no difference. I have uninstalled my browser and re-installed, still no fix.

I have searched my computer using malwarebytes to check to see if their could be any malware effecting my browser, there is none.

I have launched the browser in safe mode, but still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Safe Mode disables hardware acceleration, which would have been the first thing I'd suggest trying.

Which version has this problem? Firefox is currently on 41.0 but the browser you posted with identified itself as Waterfox 40.0.2.

Could you post a screenshot of the appearance? This article has tips on that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem? Please cut out or blur anything sensitive in the image before attaching it to your reply.

In your Question Details > More System Details, there is a reference to a Wacom tablet plugin. If you don't use your tablet with your browser, could you try disabling that in case there is stray input? Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for Wacom and change the permission to "Never Activate" to see whether that makes any difference.

(Some permission changes do not take effect in the window where you make the change, but only in other windows or new windows.)
