Firefox for iOS includes optional features powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to help you browse more efficiently. You can review and manage these features at any time in Settings.

What AI features you can control

Artificial intelligence (AI) includes a wide range of technologies. Some, like autocomplete, have been around for years. Newer features use generative AI to summarize content or assist with browsing tasks.

AI Controls in Firefox for iOS give you the option to turn these features on or off.

Included features

You may see the following AI-powered features:

• Page summaries: Summarize supported webpages to quickly understand key points.
• Translations: Translate webpages into your preferred language (available in supported regions only)

Turn off all AI features

You can turn off AI-powered features from Settings.

1. Open Firefox.
2. Tap the menu button .
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap AI Controls.

   

5. Turn off AI features or Page Summaries.

   

When disabled:

1. AI features will not appear in Firefox
2. You won’t see prompts or suggestions related to AI features

Turn off specific AI features

You can control individual features instead of turning everything off.

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Page summaries or AI Controls.
3. Turn specific features on or off:
   • Translations
   • Page Summaries

   

When a feature is turned off, it will no longer appear or be available.

• You can change these settings at any time
• Some features may be experimental and not available to all users
• Availability may vary by device or region

Frequently asked questions

Will turning off AI features affect normal browsing?

No. Standard Firefox features will continue to work as usual. Only AI-powered features are affected.

Can I turn AI features back on later?

Yes. You can return to Settings and re-enable any features at any time.

Why don’t I see these features?

Some AI features are released gradually and may not yet be available on your device or in your region.

What happens if I turn off AI features?

AI features will be disabled and removed from menus and prompts. You won’t see suggestions to use them.

How does Firefox handle my data when using AI features?

Firefox takes a privacy-focused approach to AI features.

• On supported devices, summaries may be processed on-device
• On other devices, data may be processed using Mozilla-hosted services

Only the information needed to generate the result is used. Mozilla does not use your personal browsing data to train AI models.
