I love "readability" particularly for printing. But it doesn't seem to work now. Do I need a new copy of it? Or, How can I make it work again.

The general way to check extensions for updates is from the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a
  • Tools menu > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Above the list, click the "gear" button and then "Check for Updates".

Since Readability installs from their website, I don't know whether that works for Readability. You could try installing the current version (without removing what you have) and see whether that helps: http://www.readability.com/addons

Any luck?

I went to readabiliy.com, updated to the latest version; didn't help. Perhaps there is a setting if Firefox that is the issue, I will look around.

I tried Readability on a couple of pages. It seems to send a request to Readability and then redirect to a new URL with the modified page. Where is that breaking down for you: you never get the new URL with the modified page?

I'm afraid I don't understand what you want me to do. How can I change the URL so it gets back to me?

Hi rwkendall, sorry I wasn't clear. When I use Readability, it doesn't modify the actual site I'm using. Instead, I get redirected to the Readability site where they set up the modified page. My question is whether Firefox is loading the Readability site, or whether Firefox is staying on the original page.

Your reply didn't solve my problem as I didn't under stand what to do.

So, I went to the Readability site and downloaded whatever it is that they download. Now I have three new, red icons to the right of my 'page back and forward diamonds on the left of my Firefox header line. When I want to use readability, I simply click on one of those icons, which are 'read,' 'save' (which saves to my account at the readability site for me to read later), and, 'send to kindle' which I don't use as I don't have one. Thanks for prodding my to keep at it. RWKendall
