When typing in Zimbra mail, when I type the number 1 it triggers some kind of converting function. A box pops up and says - converting - and asks if I want to leave the page. How can I disable this?

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
