Can't pull from desktop so will try and duplicate the alert

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM (BYAP08CA0057. namprd08. prod.outlook.com) Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I have checked my email in settings and it is correct. That alert is so long and confusing I have no idea what it means. I have been using Thunderbird with my mac for nearly 4 years with no problems until now. Please assist if possible. Marianne

Are you using the exchange addon for Thunderbird or are you using the outlook server as an IMAP mail account. Two very different things.
