TB cannot find Settings for Email Address, Despite Correct Fields

I used that e-mail address before, and I used Thunderbird (TB) before to access that e-mail address. Now I have a new computer (Windows 10) and try desperately to link up TB again with that existing e-mail address.

I entered the correct information into each field, and still, each time TB fails with the error message "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account" and I am running out of ideas what that could be and how to solve this problem. I called my Internet Service Provider but they told me that their routers and modems cannot be the cause of that problem. I asked at TechGuy.org if maybe the Windows 10 Firewall could be the problem, and whitelisted TB for Internet traffic, and that did not help. I asked the e-mail address provider for assistance, and they cannot help me either.

But at least they sent me an excerpt of the server log that shows that TB tries to communicate but does not give any username, password, or other settings to the server, and therefore TB fails to register my existing e-mail address each time. Very strange.

Dear TB developers, please help. Thanks.

You can bypass the account setup wizard by adding the account offline.

Does not help:

my mail server is WorldServer.net, my e-mail address is i@(MyName).name.

But despite of having filled out all fields correctly, TB still tries to connect to server "mail.(MyName).name, and not to WorldServer.net. Totally wrong.

Why does none of the TB developers answer here? Is this really the right place to communicate with the developers team? Or is there no way to get their attention to this problem which is based on a programming error?

The information here suggests you can add an account with worldserver.net servers if your email address is registered with worldserver. If you have entered imap.worldserver.net or pop.worldserver.net for the incoming server, I don't think TB will try to connect to mail.(MyName).name.

Yes, it does.

The server fields have "Worldserver.net" in it. The user name is identical there with my e-mail address: "i@(MyName).name".

But for some reason that I don't understand, TB seeks to connect to "mail.(MyName).name", and I cannot find any place inside the TB e-mail settings where to change that.

QUESTION: is this forum really the right place to inform the TB developers about problems and get support? None of the developers has answered to my thread up to now.

Does your address and password work on webmail?

You can submit a report to Bugzilla if you like; include a link to this discussion.
