Can’t use firefox

more options

Hi. I clicked on a button that says to speed up Firefox on my computer Now it says that 2 copies of Firefox are running and says to close Firefox.

So I closed it, restarted the computer, but the same message appears again.

Now, I can’t use Firefox at all. I’ve dumped it and reinstalled it. Still doesn’t work. Please advise Thanks Maryyea1

FYI there is no such thing as "Speeding" up a browser that is a ISP bandwidth limit and also the site where your connecting to bandwidth limits. When you uninstalled did you delete Mozilla folder as well for a clean install? Sounds like there is two different versions of firefox running? How many firefox installs did you do? And how did you update firefox? Where did the button that said to click to speed up browser popup from?

Hi Maryyea1, could you tell us what OS you run (e.g., Windows 10, MacOS, Linux)?

If it's Windows 10, Firefox might start automatically with your computer. Otherwise, that should never happen. However, if Firefox is your default browser, other programs may try to send links to it, and that could start it up. But if you don't see Firefox running anywhere, there must be another explanation.

However, hard to advise without knowing your OS. Thanks.

By the way, if you used Firefox's Refresh feature, there should be a new Old Firefox Data folder on your system desktop. Please hang onto that so we can use it to recover some files.
