How can I change my default email program from TB to Outlook? I change it in Windows default settings, it still goes to Mozilla when I share attachments

more options

I have changed the default in my Windows setting to point to Outlook (it's a work computer), but settings in TB won't let me change it. I uninstalled TB, and all attachments are now sent via Outlook. When I reinstalled TB, it went straight back to the way it was, sending attachments using TB.

I currently had to uninstall TB because I couldn't use it the way it is.

Thanks,

Bart

Hi Bart, what is the process you use to share attachments? Do you mean sending files from a folder on your computer, in Windows Explorer (right-click > Send to > Mail Recipient)?

No, it happens when I have a document or spread sheet open and click share and choose email as the option. Then it opens a Thunderbird email instead of Outlook. I have to use Outlook for work emails, which is where I do most of my sharing. I uninstalled Thunderbird and it worked well with Outlook. I reinstalled TB, didn't choose it as default, but it uses TB again!

Thanks, Bart

Hi Bart, if you are viewing a document (in the Word application) or spreadsheet (in the Excel application), I wouldn't expect Office applications to prefer Thunderbird over Outlook. Very hard to explain. I can't help thinking it's a Windows 10 issue, but hopefully someone else has some input.

If you are viewing them in a Firefox tab, on the other hand, check your "mailto" setting: Change the program used to open email links.
