Since a few updates ago (maybe 50, now at 55.0.3 on mac) the download menu dropdown from the download icon (inverted arrow) in the menu bar has stopped showing all the downloaded items, and usually (but not always) fails to show the most recent one. Showing the download window from the Tools menu shows the full download window of course but the shortcut list doesn't match it any longer for some reason. It's a bit of a handicap, and can lead to workflow errors if you're not attentive enough. Any ideas (without canning all my history!)?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
