I wanted FireFox to "forget" (as the name of the button implies) any typed in urls, so I installed it, pressed it, and when firefox restarted the url was SUGGESTED (therefore it was not gone) when I started typing in the first letter of the url.

Simply clearing Firefox history will help.

To delete Firefox history:

-> Press simultaneously Shift+Ctrl+Del keys (small window opens) -> Choose from drop down menu 'Everything' -> Click 'Clear Now'

Note: Any tabs that are open while clearing History will be retained

Hope this helps!

You can also right-click a history item and select "Forget About This Site" to remove all data from a specific domain.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
