Okay i have a problem with the same thing, why would the default option be deleting all my emails in my mailbox? I don't see how that logic stands up.

Is there a way to bring those emails back up in my mailbox?

I didn't even make note of this until it was too late and it had deleted a bunch of messages. I mean a lot of mailboxes get filled with lots of spam and it is very hard to get a hold of why and which emails are missing.
