How do I configure Firefox to work with my antivirus software?

Norton Internet Security installed. Norton appears automatically within IE and has a vault that protects log-in details. I don't see this in Firefox.

Can you check whether your Norton browser add-ons are enabled on the Add-ons page? Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

The disabled extensions cluster toward the bottom on a gray background. If they are down there, try to enable them.

If they won't enable, try using Norton LiveUpdate a few times to make sure you have the latest versions. You probably need to close Firefox and start it up again after the LiveUpdate in order for Firefox to detect the new files.

Any luck?

I forgot to mention: if the Norton extensions are enabled, but nothing appears on your toolbars, then try this:

  • If Norton has its own toolbar, right-click a blank area of the tab bar (or right-click the new tab "+" button) to turn the toolbar on/off.
  • If Norton has buttons but not a toolbar, use the Customize feature to move those buttons to a good location (they may be on a hidden bar or may be in the dialog with other unused buttons). See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
